Dear friends and family,
As you all know on Friday November 7th David Castro suffered a stroke that left him partially immobile on his left side. Early this year in March David had lost his job due to loss of state funding to Joshua House where David had impacted hundreds of kids who were transitioning through the foster system over his 13 year career, leaving Theresa's job as the primary income. Throughout this time David and Theresa have selflessly served their church, community, and several ministries they are involved with. Their commitment to the body of Christ has continued in leading their church's marriage group re|engage and re|engage Living - helping married couples grow in knowledge, faith, joy, and love. They have served over 800 couples in the last 4 years. They are also greatly involved in the Tres Días and Vida Nueva communities, including serving on the Tres secretariat. They have both easily impacted hundreds more people both young and old through their serving in these communities. They are also the caretakers for David's elderly mother.
But throughout this time David and Theresa trusted in God to provide and make a way and just a few days before the stroke David had accepted employment in the direct elderly care field. Now that opportunity will not be possible. David will have a long road to recovery ahead. Theresa will be the primary caretaker for both David and his mother. And unfortunately Theresa had to use her employee benefits for her own personal medical needs late last year.
David has been making progress every day since the stroke and has more movement in his arm and leg. Fine motor skills are still minimal but that's to be expected. David and Theresa are in very good spirits and ready to get moving forward with the recovery.
They have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of prayers that have been put up to God on their behalf. They have a long road ahead so please keep the prayers coming. They believe that God will bless them through this too.
