Let's Honor Dylan The Right Way
Tax deductible
This month's Do The Next Good Thing Giveaway is all about our friend Dylan Pollock.
While Dylan left us this month after a courageous battle with an incredibly rare form of cancer, his spirit will live on in those that interacted with him for a very long time.
During his battle, a local group called Night Our For You, sent Dylan to a Yankees game. They describe their mission as such:
"Creating an experience for a Deserving Adult, allowing them to remember who they are by forgetting their cancer diagnosis for a few hours."
A simple and noble goal. Dylan's obituary was shared across the Internet, but it was the words of NOFY that caught my attention and made them the winners of this month's giveaway.
"What a kid is all I can say.
There are so many grieving his passing and to them (and to me) I encourage us to use this analogy I use with my own family - Death can mean the same thing as if Dylan is in the next room. You don't see him when he is in the next room, but he is there - still loving you, still watching over you, still laughing with you. He is still here in the next room.
John 14:1-2 Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God, believe in me also. My father's house has many rooms, if that were not so would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you?"
Dylan's services were this week and it's fair to say that everyone that attended was moved in a special way. All who said goodbye did so with grace, pain, and love. It was something to behold.
Dylan wore number 9 on his uniform, and so we kick this spectacle off with a donation of $1,009 so that other people may be able to forget their troubles as well, if even for a few moments.
Rest easy and fly high young man, you're work here is done.
