Brothers, Sisters and Friends of Tavo Mathey,
As I am sure that many of you are aware, Tavo was hit by an automobile on Sunday, May 19, 2019.
He is currently recovering from a broken leg, and is in a cast from his thigh to his toes. Additional consequences of the accident include a herniated disk and a contusion on his right lung.

Tavo’s neurosurgeon has told him that he will not be able lift weights in the future. In fact, Tavo cannot lift anything heavy because it may worsen the disk herniation, which in turn could cause a loss of mobility in both his legs. The neurosurgeon has prescribed a 3 month course of pain medication and anti-inflammatories. If Tavo’s condition does not improve, surgery may be the only viable option.
Unfortunately, the legal requirements on drivers and their insurance carriers is not like things are in the U.S.. Even though all of Tavo’s above-described injuries were caused by the accident of May 19, the insurance company will not cover the cost of the surgery. Moreover, Tavo and his family are unable to afford health insurance. Consequently, he has none to cover the medical expenses that the driver’s insurance company will not.
He has completely depleted all of his savings and been forced to borrow most of the money that has been used to pay his medical expenses to date. Of course, he must repay these loans.
The consequences of this accident have extended not only to Tavo, but to his entire family. For example, his father, Lucho, had to quite his job in order to to help Tavo get to and from appointments at hospitals and appointments with doctors, cook for himself, and simply get to the bathroom.
The bottom line is - Tavo needs our help.

Christians are to be known for our love. Jesus said, “As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” (John 13:34-35) Biblical love is like Christ-likeness. Biblical love involves demonstrating those attitudes and actions toward others that Christ demonstrated when He came into the world and lived among men.

In the midst of discussing forthcoming judgment in Matthew 25:31-46, Jesus distinguishes between those who truly believe and those who don’t.
Matthew 25:35-40 - “For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.” Then the righteous will answer him, saying, “Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?” And the King will answer them, “Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.”
Finally, may I leave you with some super encouraging passages from Scripture?

Hebrews 13:16 - Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.
Philippians 2:4 - Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.
Luke 6:38 - Give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.
1 John 3:17 - But if anyone has the world's goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God's love abide in him?
Galatians 6:2 - Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.
Proverbs 19:17 - Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will repay him for his deed.
Acts 20:35 - In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.”
James 2:14-17 - What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that? So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.
Tavo has done so much for our King and His Glory. He has done so much to love and serve so many.
Now it is our turn to love, serve and bless Tavo.
Will you please help?
