Our amazing sister Madelyn was very recently diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer - a return of the cancer that she beat four years ago at age 46. This time, the breast cancer cells have attacked her lumbar spine and hip. Those of you who know and love Madelyn have experienced what a kind, intelligent, and giving person she is -- she makes such a difference for kids in her work, and for all of us in general. We are asking that you help to support her fight against cancer and this journey that she is now undertaking.
Madelyn has been undergoing treatment at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston - starting with a week-long hospital stay that began in ER due to extreme pain, 15 radiation treatments, endocrine therapy, and pain management consults. Her oncologists have recommended that she stop working right now at the teaching job she loves to devote all her energy to fighting cancer. She is also doing all she can nutritionally, emotionally, and spiritually to help with her cure. Her treatments will require many return trips to MD Anderson. Many things that will be required in Madelyn's care will not be covered by insurance, and this care will be over a long period and quite expensive.
Many of you have asked how you can help. The best way to help is to donate to Madelyn's care and treatment by making a donation of any amount here - no amount is too small, and it all helps! If you'd prefer, you can contribute by sending your donation to 704 Fitch Street in Socorro, NM, 87801. Thank you in advance for anything you can contribute and for all the light and prayers you are sending Madelyn's way.
Love,
Deb, Kim, & Don
