Let’s help Lucille “Fight the Fight”
Lucille (Bombardier)
Soulliere is a very close lifelong friend of mine, Michelle (O’Gorman) Morettin and very close friend and cousin to Sue(Bombardier)Garbula. You will be very hard pressed to find a more caring, thoughtful, fun loving and above all resilient, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt or cousin.
In 2015, Lucille was finally, after many years of various uncomfortable symptoms, diagnosed with Sezary syndrome, which is an aggressive form of blood cancer(Cutaneous T-cell lymphoma) that affects the skin and lymph nodes. It has been not only a frustrating time but an extremely uncomfortable time for Lucille. People with Sezary Syndrome develop a red, severely itchy rash(erythroderma) that covers large portions of her body. I have personally witnessed Lucille’s extremely uncomfortable itchy struggle! Not nice!

She has been treated by oncologists prescribing various medications and a Sezary specialist at Sunnybrook in Toronto who finally “got her”!!!!!
Lucille, this month, has begun her journey for “stem cell” transplant at the Juravinski Cancer Centre in Hamilton.
This treatment will begin on October 25th, where she will be given doses of radiation and chemo to kill her existing cells. She will then be given replacement cells from a healthy anonymous donor. She knows only that he is male and she’s hoping that he is Australian so she will end up with the accent!!
This procedure is very serious and could cause various side effects requiring costly medications that may not be fully covered(25,000 @ 80%) by her insurance.
Not to mention other out of pocket costs that Lucille has has had to incur such as:
⁃ trips to Toronto to oncology appointments
⁃ Regular weekly visits last spring to Toronto for “photopherisis” therapy in which her blood is treated with a photosensitizing agent and subsequently irradiated with specialized wavelengths of light to treat white blood cells with medication and returning them.
⁃ Vitamin C IV treatments recommended by her Windsor oncologist however not covered by insurance
⁃ Ultraviolet light treatment also recommended and not covered. It was only covered if she went to Chatham hospital for treatment, however she couldn’t endure the ride(pulling over in Tilbury to nap) so stopped that and ended up paying for it at a clinic in Windsor!!! Most of these treatments were out of her own pocket expenses( hotel, gas, mileage, food and cost of treatments)

Lucille must also remain in Hamilton close to the Cancer Centre for an extended period of 90 days with a caregiver at all times. The Cancer centre has rooms available for patients and her caregiver at the Staybridge Hotel. She must pay a subsidized fee for the room and parking. Due to dietary restrictions she will have to have her meals/snacks provided and prepared for her. These and other costs for her stay will quickly add up for Lucille.
Therefore, to help ease the stress and worry for Lucille in order that she may solely focus on her health, we ask that you would be so kind as to help with a donation to assist in covering some of her costs.
We all love Lucille and desperately want to see her win this battle stress free!!!!

So dear friends and family, We are hoping that you can find it in your hearts to help. Every little bit helps!!!!

Thank you so much from Lucille and her family for all your love and support during this challenging time.
