Let's help Joe like he helps everyone else!

My name is Scott.  For those who may not know me,  I am a longtime friend of Joe's.  Please give this a read and show some support if it's financially feasible to do so.  Thanks!

If you know Joe, then you know that he is too proud to ask for help, with anything... but when he can, he is quick to lend a hand, stand up for a cause or just do all he can to make you laugh or smile. His family and very close friends, however, know that as of late, he has fallen upon some hard times and can use a helping hand. He tries to hide it and will be quick to tell you that "it's not that bad" or that "there are many other people much worse off than him" but an unexpected visit to Northwest Memorial hospital, resulting in a week-long stay with a cardiac procedure performed.... PLUS a second open heart surgery to replace a leaking heart valve which also looms in his near future, these have added to his challenges.

The timing  of these medical issues has also placed an even bigger burden on him financially, which in turn is causing more stress. When all this happened,  Joe was in the process of home renovations. He ripped up his whole house floor due to the carpet causing breathing issues due to allergies which now remains unfinished indefinitely.   Also, his house has sustained roof damage caused by wildlife breaching weak spots which is now requiring him (also in a holding pattern) to replace large sections of his roof. Again he would say "These are problems of my own making and I'll figure it out" or "I'll fix it myself".  Finally, to top it all off, he told me that the transmission on his car that he drives to get downtown to work daily is beginning to fail. Joe would normally and has been handling these problems on his own.  The problem is his issues have been piling up and compounding off of each other.  He has a long commute time to and from work, quite often which is six days a week.  Having to balance that with checking on and helping with his 85 year old father, the projects that have piled up and stress of losing his transportation to and from work has been making it nearly impossible to get ahead of things. This was all going on before his recent “heart setbacks,” as he calls it.

Which brings me to this funding request. Joe knows I have started this... he would never ask on his own, so I asked for his permission since a lot of this is very personal. Joe is a very proud person, AGAIN, declaring that there are many more people we know that are deserving or in need of help, but he gave me the OK to share his situation. Most of us know Joe as a hard worker.  He has held a good job and been successful there even through all this turmoil.  Even with extra money-making endeavors outside of work, it isn't nearly enough with all the high medical costs.   I feel Joe's situation is exactly what these fundraisers are for.    I thought even if half of his Facebook friends gave a few dollars, it would be enough to assist in one or more of these extra costs he is facing.  Stress is a horrible thing.  It can make the difference between a smooth or rocky recovery. I thought with everything he is going through, it would be a nice way to come together and show him we are all willing to help him out as well.  We can assist him to try and get ahead, put a smile on his face and help lift a bit of the burden on the days to come.

I wasn't sure how much to set as the goal, so I started here.  If we can hit that quickly, I may raise it a little.  As most of you know, medical costs can accumulate rather quickly.  For Joe, there is no exception.  Every little bit will help, especially if we all throw in something.  Thank you  from Joe and myself for any help!
