LET'S HELP GRAHAM MOVE FORWARD.
Early in March, out of the blue, Graham suffered a devastating, right-side hemorrhagic stroke, paralyzing the left side of his body while not affecting his intellect. He was taken to Portsmouth Hospital and later transferred for treatment to Mass General. He is currently at Northeast Rehabilitation Hospital, with a goal of retraining his nerves to respond to signals from the brain. A move is planned at some point to a skilled nursing facility for an extended stay. This will be a long journey.
Graham has been a beautiful part of our community in many ways. We think of him as someone always eager to help others. He has been a fixture on the sidelines for Winncunnet High School sports and volunteered to raise funds for the new track. With an agenda to help Hampton get its fair share of tourist-related dollars, he recently ran as a moderate for the New Hampshire House.
Many in town supported the Bunce Family ten years ago when their seventeen-year-old soccer and track star daughter Lara died in her sleep from a seizure. Not long after, his wife Jennifer was the donor for Graham's kidney transplant. This family has had more than their share of tragedy and pain. Just imagine.
At the time of his stroke, Graham was working for a non-profit organization in Portsmouth that nurtures individuals with developmental disabilities and brain disorders.
Healthcare coverage is complicated in situations like this. The money raised will help with the cost of special equipment and the mounting medical deductibles and co-pays required for his care, as well as long-term coverage. It will also help with outfitting the Bunce home for Graham's return: ramps, wider doorways, bathroom alterations and such.
