Hello everyone!
My name is Gabriela, and I am writing this because I need your help. My best friend, my sister, my artistic partner and collaborator needs all of us to step up.
Diana Valencia is one of the most caring, loving, selfless and talented individuals I know, and seeing her go through her O-1 Visa process (an artist visa for those unfamiliar) has taking a toll on me and all the people around her.
Diana does not deserve to carry the weight of this tedious task alone, which is why I am asking you: our lovely community, to help alleviate the stress this incredibly expensive process puts on a person by helping Diana!
...anything from a dollar to 1k to whatever you can give!
the O-1 Artist Visa is granted to a selected group of individuals who have shown extraordinary talents in one artistic field. To say this sentence undermines Diana’s genius is an understatement.
Diana is a multi-disciplinary artist and performer born and raised in Xalapa, Veracruz, Mexico. She began her career in dance performance. Diana is interested in stories that illuminate the power of human connection through different disciplines.
This year, Diana and I Directed a full length feature film that we both produced and starred in with a crew of 90% people of color and over 50% women and lgbtq folk.
...Did I mention this was only IN JANUARY???
Did you know that Diana is one of the original ensemble members of Shia LaBeouf’s experimental theatre company SLAUSON REC? And performed to SOLD OUT audiences in the company's Sacred Spectacle:

(did you see how amazing she is in this?)
She also serves as the only female Director in the company...most recently co-directed Slauson's piece for LEGALIZE DANCE:

...oh now that I can continue to brag about my friend:
She is stars alongside Alia Shawkat in Hayley Benton Gates short for MIU MIU Women’s tales SHAKO MAKO...which can be seen at this years Venice Film Festival! WHICH IS HUGE.
Did I mention that this super woman does all of this while still waking up at 7am to be in her friends unpaid short film (mine), calls you anytime to give you emotional support, will open her home, her mattress, her car—ANYTHING SHE OWNS and will share it with you?
Did I also mentioned that this woman pretty much saved my life this year by just being a real friend? A friend that will look at you and see you and tell you that you matter? And pray for you, the kind of prayers that go directly to the source.
Did I mention she didn't want me to build this GoFundMe? That she wanted to bear this cross alone?
Did I mention I am doing this anyway?
I am. We are.
Because Diana makes the world better.
Makes my world better.
Makes everyone that comes into contact with her better.
And she deserves to share her art and soul with the world and stay in the U.S
Lets do this Familia! Por y Para Diana
