My Mom, The Cancer Heavy-Weight

Cancer Kills. Period.
Meet my mom: practical jokester, conversationalist, and huge Grey's Anatomy fan. She knits blankets and hats, makes a mean Thanksgiving Turkey, and is the Candy Crush Champ of the house.
And she has cancer. And cancer kills.
But Mom's a fighter, and between the doctor's visits, the meds, the chemotheraphy regimens, and insurance, she has taken a killer to task for 15 and half years. Cancer kills, but my mom won't just roll over. And all her fighting could be about to pay off.
City of Hope has a clinical trial where they will take her white blood cells, modify them, and reintroduce them into her body. These white blood cells will be modified to fight her cancer for her, to arm her natural body to fight a killer.
They're doing the stuff of science fiction over there, and my Mom's got the ticket for what sounds like a doozy of a space tour.
It's good news. It's really good, and we just need a little push to get through the last leg of it.
While the doctors modify my mom's cells, she'll be going through a final trial. One last battle for supremacy: several rounds of aggressive chemotherapy over three days, until her immune system is compromised. Then, she'll get the modified white blood cells.
She won't be able to go home. She'll need 24hour surveillance, and the recovery stay won't be covered by insurance. So, we're asking for your help. My mother has gone toe-to-toe with a killer for over 15 years in a fight to live another day. Don't be fooled by the knitting needles and the smell of turkey: my mom fights to win. With this modest goal, we can help her deal a decisive blow in a lifetime of fighting.
Give what you can. We appreciate your support.
