Hey, I’m Brayden.

So, here I am, just shy of turning 19, and never believing my face and story would go to a fundraiser such as this.  Up until about 2 months ago, I was a pretty care-free teen, loving life, finding great parts of myself after graduating grade 12 a year ago.  And then the craziest thing happened.  I was diagnosed with a very rare form of cancer, Sarcoma.  These cancers account for only 1% of all cancers, and the sub-type I have is especially rare.  I also have a couple lung nodules.  I am going to start Chemotherapy August 5, and am ready to fight this battle, fists swinging!

Life before?  I consider myself to be a very lucky guy.  I have a super supportive family and parents who have always believed in dreams.  I was in the RAP program in school for Electrician, which was hard to continue with job losses with the economy and Covid.  But really, most of my learning has come from my dad.  We live on an acreage, so I have helped with ranching duties, building, equipment repair and maintenance, and know how to operate large equipment.  This led me to my dream job with  KGL Constructors as a skid operator working on the South West Calgary Ring Road.  I was only able to work for about a month before my diagnosis forced me to take this time for treatment.

Besides Mom and Dad, I have a 16 year old sister and 14 year old brother.  We have many memories of camping, water sports, hockey, horses, dogs with Boxer and French Bull dog breeding.  

My friends mean the world to me, and they are so much a part of my love of life.   We share dreams of one day building our own houses on some land.  Lazy days on the boat with them are amongst the best.

So why have I set up this go fund me page?  I have some bills, especially my favorite girl, my red 2002 Chevy.  My Mom has gone on short term disability to care for me through treatment.  My dad will work as much as he can, but will be there for both mom and I when we need him.  I may be a patient candidate for clinical trials, but we don’t have all the research on this yet.  And we are also looking at Immunotherapy, which is not covered by AHC.

Can you help us?  I’m wanting to raise $75,000 to cover my bills, possible travel and expenses for Clinical trials and Immunotherapy, both not covered by AHS.  Any left over funds will be donated to Cancer Research, Sarcoma studies.
