Let's Help Ashley & Family

**NEW UPDATE-PLEASE READ**
Today, January 15, 2020, very real tragedy has befallen this small family.

Ashley's house burned down, with her dogs and bird inside. The animals did not get out before dying of smoke inhalation.
Ashley's brother, Tony, barely got out alive, as he was asleep when the fire started.

I am still gathering details, but focused on making sure Ashley is in touch with a friend as often as possible. She is very distraught, as we all would be.
On top of losing the dogs and her bird, all of Ashley's bespoke Lord of the Seams designs and finished projects were lost in the fire, too.

Please consider helping, or at least spreading this GFM far and wide.

Help her, Obi-Wan, you're her only hope!

Shhh! This is a surprise-help for Ashley.

Just after Christmas, Ashley's mom went into hospital for triple-inflection. This infection started within the gastrointestinal tract and swiftly moved into the abdominal cavity and blood tissue.
The infections were successfully treated with a series of IV antibiotics, however, part of Ashley's mom's intestines died because the infection was swift, and left untreated in its formative stages.
Why was it left untreated, you ask? Because Ashley and her family are, like a lot of Americans, not well off or covered well under a medical insurance. Ashley's mom has insurance, but nothing grandiose.

Last week, that dead bit of intestine, plus a little more, were removed surgically. It took a week or more of feeding tubes and hospital stay for Ashley's mom to be well enough to return home.
However, removal of intestines requires a slow-roll back on to bland, solid foods. Ashely does not have the resources to restock the home kitchen with appropriate foods, and the local food pantries do not have the appropriate foods.
She also had to scrub and sanitize the ENTIRE house from top-to-bottom, end-to-end because her mother's immune system tanked with this infection. This was exhausting in time and in material resources.

A little background on Ashley herself: She is the sole-provider for her household, which includes herself, her adult brother, and her retiree-mother. Plus 2 dogs and a bird. Ashley works full time as a paraprofessional in a classroom that supports preschool and kinder-age children with learning disabilities and children that are hard-of-hearing or deaf. On top of the usual school year, she also does summer school class support.
After her full-time work, she spends time working on bespoke, hand-designed and hand-sewn clothing. Her design line "Lord of the Seams" has been featured at most of the Bay Area comic conventions. She helps heavily with the fashion show that features her work.

Ashley is obsessively in love with the Lord of the Rings trilogy and WETA. She was working on a haute couture designer dress for the WETA Wearable Art fashion show when her mom became ill. Ashley exhausted the resources she saved for her project on supporting her household through her mother's illness and is now scraping the barrel for resources to make it through the recovery time.
This is typical Ashley: self-sacrificing to the point of squashing her own ambitions for the well-being of others. She would NEVER ask for help, ESPECIALLY when she REALLY needs it.

Would you consider helping Ashley and her family out? Recovery is easier when basic needs are met, and right now, those can't be met without extreme stress. I'm not asking for resources to recover Ashley's project, but to show her that there is good in the world, if you just open yourself up to the option of receiving it. She is very convinced that she deserves her lot in life; I am not convinced of this.
