Let's Give HOPE To Donna & Mateo

On May 2nd Mateo was taken to the emergency room because he was uncontrollably crying. Donna found out that his sugars had dropped so low that something severe would have happened to him if she had not taken him to the hospital that night. He was later diagnosed with Congenital Hyperinsulinism. In a nutshell, this is caused when your pancreas produces too much insulin. Mateo's sugar levels will always be dangerously low due to this rare disease. After 3 weeks at Methodist Childrens Hospital, Mateo and Donna were transferred to Cooks Children's Hospital in Fort Worth where he will get the specialized treatment he needs and he will be having part of his pancreas removed on Monday, June 4th. Doctors are expecting him to be there from 3-6 months if all goes well and Donna will need to stay there with him.

Donna was using her FMLA for her stay with Mateo but her FMLA has expired since she had to use her FMLA for maternity leave when she gave birth to Mateo.

Today Donna received notice from her job that they were going to have to let her go. It's hard enough being in a hospital with a sick child and then to get word that she has just lost her job while going through this is another obstacle that she will have to go through. 

We are asking all of our family and friends to please help us raise funds for Donna and Mateo during this difficult time to help pay for expenses while Mateo is in the hospital. We could also use endless prayers for Mateo to recover well after his surgery and prayers for Donna to give her the strength to take all this in and to know that she is not alone. Anything will help.
