Let's get Patrick well and back in the woods!

Patrick Harrison's family & friends are raising money to help him regain his equilibrium after suffering a stroke in Portugal.

As many of you know, Patrick is a person who wears his heart on his sleeve. Full of generosity, energy, warmth and passion, Patrick has shared his love of trees, forests, woodland and nature with a host of people over the years. However, he now needs our help to get him back on his feet after he was struck down by an ischaemic stroke in Portugal at the end of September 2019.

The good news is that with the right care, physical rehabilitation and nurture, the doctors have told us he will make a 100% recovery.  Patrick is generally in good spirits and keen to return to what he does best .... enthusing, teaching and training others to look after our woodlands, planet - and themselves.

Although he has the determination to do this, he lacks the hard cash to help him regain his footing. Since money has never been his priority, he has no safety net so he urgently needs financial help.

Patrick has met hundreds of people over the years and there's been a steady stream of people offering to help so we thought setting up this page would be the most effective way of turning thoughts into action. We can assure you that no contribution is too small.

We hope he can return to his home in Britain after rehabilitation in Portugal on 6 December and have broken down his estimated costs as follows:

3,400€ (£2,928.59) for 2 month's medical care in a private residential home in Portugal. There is no reciprocal NHS facility available but he was lucky to be offered a place at Dona Maria Quinta de Bela Vista, Rua das Hortentas No5 Cruz de Pau 2845-062 Amora

800€  (£698.07) for daily rehabilitation work-outs in the gym

690€ (£594.29) for doctor's appointments and on-going assessments

£539.50 Ferry Bilbao-Portsmouth on 6th December (2 adults (to include assistance with travel), 1 x van, 1 x dog with pet friendly cabin)

£250 for pet passport, health check, & microchip to bring his young rescue dog, Zizi, home with him

148.35€ (£127.73) diesel for his van:   551 miles Amora-Bilbao; 224 miles Portsmouth-Oswestry (rate 27.3 miles per gallon)

£1,050 for his first 3 months at home in Oswestry (£350 per month for food, electricity, gas & transport)

We appreciate money is tight and that there are so many good causes out there vying for your attention. And, for sure,  Patrick would be the first to say this. But, without your help, he will find the road back to full health far rockier. So your support, any support, will be beyond price.

Thank you.

Note: This campaign is ran by Richard Skrein, Patrick's friend and colleague, and Ruth Harrison/Neyla Grady, Patrick's ex-partner. Neyla will be will be withdrawing the funds and delivering the funds to Patrick and his creditors.
