Let's Get Lamin to Track Nationals
Donation protected
Two years ago Lamin Wright was introduced to track racing through the Youth Cycling League at the Dick Lane Velodrome in East Point, GA. Lamin currently races for the Mission Devo Junior Cycling team but his dream is to be on the USA National team. He is dedicated to cycling and has been training very hard to be the best track sprinter possible. In addition to being a gifted athlete, Lamin is an excellent student, and an outstanding role model for all of our junior team members. Two weeks ago, Lamin traveled to Valley Preferred Cycling Center in Trexlertown, PA, to participate in the Junior National Track Series. This series was created by USA Cycling to give junior track cyclists the opportunity to race in front of the USA Cycling Olympic Development Program coaching staff. Lamin took full advantage of this opportunity and caught the eye of the ODP sprint coach who feels Lamin is a talented sprinter. He suggested that Lamin get an upgraded bike and equipment and also wanted Lamin to race at the Junior National Track Cycling Championship at the VELO Sportscenter in Los Angeles in July.
This is where we need your help. Lamin is from a family of seven children. Obviously a trip to Los Angeles to race at Nationals comes with many expenses and was completely unplanned. Both Lamin and his father, Abu, will be flying to L.A. and staying for five days of racing. Funding will pay for them to fly instead of drive so that Abu does not have to be away from work as long. They will also have housing expenses during the trip.
We've found a bike for Lamin and would like to cover this expense, as well as other equipment expenses since most of what he has needs to be upgraded. This will not be the only trip Lamin has to make, so any money left over will be used to fund these expenses.
Lamin has the opportunity to be selected to attend a USA Cycling Olympic Development camp in the Fall that could lead to him being selected for the USA Olympic Development team. If anyone stands for what an Olympian is all about, it's Lamin.
