This is our tiny superhero John. John was born with an extra chromosome. His condition is called IDIC15Q (which is a type of dup15q). He is visually impaired, nonverbal, has low muscle tone and is delayed in many areas of development. John is a very happy kiddo but most importantly he is determined and a fighter. This year John is supposed to start preschool he aged out of early intervention and all his services will start up again through the school district once the school year starts. Here is the problem John can not navigate the bus steps independently due to his low tone and partly due to his vision. This being said the school district will only transport John to school in his pediatric wheelchair. We have the chair that's not the problem the issue comes down to home access. We have no wheelchair ramp. We live in Illinois and can have all four seasons in one day so John really needs to be loaded and adjusted into his chair inside the house. The strap system for his chair is a five point harness and is difficult to adjust quickly, so if it is raining or snowing outside this could lead to longer exposure times if we don't get a ramp. You can learn more about John's condition at www.dup15q.org . We have gotten a few quotes for the ramp, picked the company we want to use, we just need to be able to pay for it before it can be ordered. Please help if you can if you can't please share.
