Let's FLOOR Quincey...UPDATE: WE DID IT-GOAL MET!!
Donation protected
As many of you know, longtime Gunnison resident Quincey Severson lost her beloved husband of 50 years, RG, earlier this year. A loss like this is impactful on a million levels, some big and some small, but all equally difficult and heartbreaking.
Just weeks before his untimely death, RG and Quincey had decided it was time to treat themselves to some long overdue updates to their home. They'd talked for years about finally redoing the floors in their entire house, trading in the carpet and tile for some updated wood flooring, a project they were really looking forward to. Of course those plans changed in a second and the funding for that dream had to be reallocated immediately. I spoke with Quincey a few months after RG's passing and she mentioned the project, how it seemed like such a "silly thing" to bring up, but that it was just one of the many things they'd been excited about together, and how it felt like such a sad loss. I left that conversation and decided that I should try and figure out how to get those floors done for her, because sometimes a "silly" thing is just what a person needs to feel hopeful again. So here we are!
A fantastic local couple with years of flooring experience have volunteered to lay the floors for FREE! They've already met with Quincey (I couldn't keep this a total secret with so many variables to figure out--I didn't want to get the surprise wrong! :), taken all of the measurements of her home, and told me exactly how much product I need to order. The product she's chosen is from Home Depot, and after contacting them and writing a letter to the managers of the Montrose store explaining Quincey's story, they've let me know that they'd like to contribute $1,000 and free shipping---AMAZING! This generation donation is incredibly helpful and leaves us needing to raise approximately $6,000 to complete the project.
I am so grateful to you for your time and consideration of this product. There's never a wrong time to help someone, but right now, in the midst of so much chaos in the world, coming together to raise the spirits of someone so deserving feels extra right. Thank you for joining me.
With gratitude,
Heather
