Mental illness doesn’t make you weak..

...the fight with it makes you strong.

For those of you who have not heard the story or read about what is happening with Call Spiller, June 2, 2020, he went missing. After several hours of searching, he was found on the side of the road passed out from carbon monoxide poisoning. Minutes away from death, a passerby graciously stopped and saved his life. When he was admitted to the ER his parents were told that he would not make it. By the grace of God, he was able to survive. This has only been one of the many hurdles that Call has faced throughout his short lifetime.

Call has been diagnosed with multiple mental illnesses over the years. However because psychiatric illnesses are so difficult to identify, not all of the diagnoses have been accurate. Mental illness has taken control of his life within the last year, both his family and doctors have been dedicated to finding him the perfect treatment. Unfortunately, mental illnesses are difficult because you can’t understand it from the outside. You have absolutely no idea what’s going on inside unless that person verbalizes it and can accurately depict exactly what they are experiencing. So for those of us on the outside, there is to know exactly what that person is thinking or feeling,

With this last incident, the treating psychiatrist stated that he did not appear to be the “normal” psych patient at all. Due to his symptoms and no family history of psych, she said he needs to get a functional brain scan. She is the second Doctor to say this. Functional brain scans are only done in certain locations across the country and unfortunately, they are not available near the Tyler area.

It is always difficult to ask for help both emotionally and financially, so with permission from the family, this page has been created to help Call get the best treatment possible. The Amen Clinic in Costa Mesa, California specializes in diagnosing and treating the brain. Please help us make it possible to get him there. Funds from this campaign would allow for both the travel expenses and treatment. I am including the website for the clinic it is very interesting and informative.   https://www.amenclinics.com/

God has a plan for Call we want him to be around both happy and healthy for many years to come.

We hope that this post will not only help Call receive the treatment he needs but also bring much-needed awareness to mental health.

The family is very thankful for all of the prayers and support that everyone has shown!

The strongest people are not those who show strength in front of the world but it’s those who fight the battle you have no idea about.
