Hey everyone, I'm Helen and am one of Kathy best friends; have been for the last thirty years (gosh we're getting old!). Anyone who knows Kathy well, will know that she's been sent her fair share of curve balls over the years, but always manages to come out on top. She's such a strong, beautiful person who is always smiling and positive.
Unfortunately, Kath and her family are dealing with yet another curve ball. Her beautiful daughter Maddison Rose had what was meant to be a simple knee procedure on the 9th October 2018. Too much chemical was put into a needle that was to fix a benign tumour in Maddi's knee and the consequences have been devastating!
Since then, Maddi has had to endure SEVEN surgeries and now after finding out more devastating news earlier this week, she will be going in for more major surgery to try and save her leg this coming Monday. Unfortunately, the surgeons need to now take muscle from her good leg to try and save her leg - the surgery itself is expected to be at least six hours.

Maddi has just completed Year 12, been accepted into University and should be enjoying the best years of her life! Instead, her dream of joining the navy has been put on hold, she won't be able to start her uni course, she's been unable to continue with her part-time job at Bunnings and has spent months in hospital in extreme pain.
Through it all, Maddison still manages to smile and look for the positive, however spending the majority of the past three months in hospital, in constant pain, unable to walk, dealing with set back after set back is starting to take its toll.
This has been such an horrific journey for Maddi and her family that has changed her life and had a major impact on her family's life. In short, her life has been turned upside down.
A few people have mentioned setting up this page to help Maddi out.
There are a lot of unknowns. We don't know when she will be able to walk, drive or work. At this stage, we're unsure as to how many more surgeries she will need and it's expected that her recovery time will be up to two years.
There's still so much that hasn't been mentioned as there's too much to tell - even the simple fact that the hospital Maddi is in is an hour's drive from home - imagine doing that drive to visit your sick child every day. The toll on the family has been immense!
If you can spare a little cash to help gorgeous Maddi out with her recovery that is fantastic. If not, we understand completely.
