Hi, my name is Elbia. Given the urgent and needy situation, I find myself fundraising for a young man from my Village in Falcon State in Venezuela. His name is Gabriel. Early in 2019, this now 26 year-old young man, fell from the garbage truck on which he was working.

Since then he has been in a quadriplegic state with no movement in his legs whatsoever and minimal arm movement (cannot hold a knife, fork or plate). He has no control over his bowel movements and has to be changed regularly. He often gets bed sores and has difficulty and discomfort sitting even for a few hours.

After the accident Gabriel spent 6 months in Hospital until a Charity Foundation donated a plate and screws in order to stabilize compression fracture (C-4/C-7cervical). A month later he was

discharged from hospital with respective indications for physiotherapy, all of which were difficult due to geographical location where he lives, plus limited family economic resources. All of which were compounded further by the onset of COVID-19 in early 2020. This made any chance of what little transport to therapy his family could find impossible and left Gabriel feeling useless and

disheartened.

Encouraged by friends and family, they renewed their endeavours to find viable solutions to try and improve Gabriel’s quality of life and alleviate some of his discomfort and pain. Thanks to

local donations a series of medical consultations were made where an MRI Scan, C-T Scan and X-Rays were taken and possible solution offered…

A Spinal Consultant has offered to operate, forgoing all medical fees, and in a Public Hospital, however the resultant costs of medical supplies estimated by surgeon is in the region of $.9260 (£6850) is beyond the possibilities of his family.

If you can find it within your hearts to DONATE and help Gabriel who at the age of 26 yr. deserves an opportunity to ease some of the constant pain and improve his quality of life it will be

immensely appreciated.

Hola, me llamo Elbia. Dada la urgente y necesitada situacion, me encuentro recaudando fondos para un joven de mi pueblo en el estado Falcón, Venezuela. Se llama Gabriel y, a principios de 2019, este joven de 26 años cayó del camión de basura en el que trabajaba.

Desde entonces, se encuentra en estado cuadripléjico, sin movimiento alguno en las piernas y con un movimiento mínimo en los brazos (no puede sostener cuchillo, tenedor ni un plato). No tiene control sobre sus evacuaciones intestinales y necesita que lo cambien de ropa. A menudo le salen vejigas en la parte baja de la espalda y tiene dificultad e incomodidad para sentarse, incluso por pocas horas.

Después del accidente, Gabriel pasó 6 meses hospitalizado hasta que una fundación benéfica donó una placa con tornillos para estabilizar una fractura por compresión (cervical C-4/C-7). Un mes después, fue dado de alta con las respectivas indicaciones de fisioterapia, todo lo cual fue difícil debido a la ubicación geográfica donde reside, además de los limitados recursos económicos de su familia. La situación se agravó aún más con la aparición del COVID-19 a principios de 2020. Esto hizo imposible el transporte a terapia, dejando a Gabriel sintiendose inutil y descorazonado.

Animados por amigos los familiares, renovaron sus esfuerzos para buscar soluciones viables que mejoren su calidad de vida y aliviaran parte de su malestar y dolor. Gracias a donaciones locales, se realizaron consultas médicas donde se le realizaron resonancia magnética, tomografía computarizada y radiografías, y se ofreció una posible solución.

Un especialista en columna vertebral se ofreció a operar, sin cobrar honorarios médicos, en un hospital público. Sin embargo, el costo de los suministros médicos, estimado por el cirujano en $.9260 (£6850), supera las posibilidades de su familia.

Si tienen la posibilidad de DONAR y ayudar a Gabriel, quien a sus 26 años merece una oportunidad para aliviar parte de su dolor constante y mejorar su calidad de vida, se lo agradeceremos enormemente.
