Hello, family and friends,
I am writing on behalf of my brother Jimmy and his family. My sister-in-law, Megan, is being treated for Stage 4 Hodgkins Lymphoma.
For those who don't know Megan, she has been a part of Jimmy and our lives for over 14 years. She is the mom of three amazing kids; Paisley will be 6 in May, Dylan is 4 and Oakley is 2. They live in a small town in Sharpsburg, Maryland. Megan is the foundation and anchor of their family and selflessly takes care of everything and everyone while putting her needs last. During this time our family's goal is to put her first and surround her with love and support.
Megan started her treatment with chemotherapy on March 20th. She will complete a total of 12 treatments every two weeks with her last treatment being August 21st. Although these treatment days are very long and difficult leaving Megan extremely drained and not feeling like herself, she has a very positive attitude and still puts a smile on her face. On the weeks off from the Chemo, she has numerous other appointments to evaluate any side effects and monitor her overall health.
This diagnosis has brought unexpected challenges both emotionally and financially. That is why we wanted to start this fundraiser as a way to help ease some of the burden, allowing Megan, Jimmy and their family to focus on healing and being together.
They have been receiving so much support already from family and friends and we are eternally grateful. Jimmy's Fire Department family has made it possible so that Jimmy can be home and be by Megan's side 100% of the time. We cannot express our gratitude enough for their support, generosity and kindness. Jimmy is very involved and doesn't want Megan to have to go through any of this alone. They have also been blessed with family and friends helping with food, visiting for weeks at a time, taking the kids to school and offering so much support; it's incredible to see all the love being shared during this challenging time.
Although it is very difficult to be vulnerable and ask for help, our goal with this is to help relieve the stress from their financial responsibilities and let them focus more on together time and getting through this unforeseen rollercoaster ride as easy as possible.
Any support you can give would greatly be appreciated! If you are not in a position to do so at this time, we completely understand. If you would please help by sharing this with others and keeping Megan and our family in your prayers, that would mean so much to us!
Thank you for your compassion and support.
