Hey everybody!! HVARS NEEDS YOUR HELP!!
We get sooo many calls from the community regarding cats and kittens that need our help. Whether they’re strays, private surrenders, or transfers from kill shelters...the amount of inquiries just seem to increase more and more. Unfortunately, we currently do not have the space to take in as many as we would like to help! If you’ve been to HVARS, you know that we only have one small free range room and about 20 condos/cages for cats. And since we’re suckers, most of those condos are full with nursing moms, sick/injured strays rehabilitating, and a few with available cats or kittens! Not to mention the several ‘office’ kitties that we don’t have cage space for that get to hang around and do what they want as they wait to be adopted!
Our goal is to raise enough money to renovate this large space to be able to take in more homeless cats and kittens! Whether is $5 or $500, or even a Home Depot or Lowe’s gift card... ANYTHING will help! The more space we can create, the more cats we will be able to save! Please share this post and keep it going. We’d like to start this ASAP to be ready by next years kitten season in the spring. Thank you for your support and again, any donation is greatly appreciated!
If you are a handy person or carpenter and would like to donate your time to help us with these renovations we would be grateful for any help/assistance. Let us know!
If you’ve never been to HVARS, feel free to come by and check us out! We have many animals available for adoption, a low cost wellness and spay/neuter clinic, X-RAYS, dentals and even some specialty surgeries!
Adoption hours are Tuesday thru Sunday between 12-4 and clinic hours vary, but are typically Tuesday-Friday between 8-5 (by appointment only).
We are closed on Mondays for all services.
We are located at 9 Barnes Drive, Poughkeepsie NY 12603.
