A Love Offering: John Writes

Hello Friends of John!
Starting a campaign to help raise support funds so John can take some time now to fulfill his passion for writing.
His spirit has words eager to come to life…and who among us doesn’t want to hear and read them?
In his own words:
“For the past twelve years, the desire to write has ballooned inside my chest. I’ve been cultivating spiritual community and building organizations, and now want to turn my energy towards exploring spiritual growth and community change through the art of writing. I have two book projects in store. I’m going to try and make ends meet with some side hustles, but the more I can raise to supplement that during this period, the more I’ll be able to create. I welcome any support that comes my way, and as I create, I will be happy to share preview writing samples with anyone gift-givers who desire it. The first is a short book called “Table Turning: a mixtape for subversive mystics.” The content is mix of real-life stories from the past dozen years of doing work on the spiritual margins, as well as metaphors, concepts, and accompanying practices that I have to offer to my fellow spiritual misfits as fuel for their theological furnaces. I’ve wrote about a third of the book during a sabbatical a few years ago, but when the sabbatical ended I could not carve the time and mental space to finish it. Now is the time! The second is a fantasy/sci-fi novel that explores spirituality, family dynamics, and political power. I’ve been developing the bones of this story for the past year and it is a big part of why I want to dedicate time to creative writing. The story is about the clashes found in all great mythologies/religions between order and chaos, discipline and spontaneity, control and surrender, self-sacrifice and self-preservation, solitude and belonging, forgiveness and vengeance, and so on. I think it will be weird and wonderful, and hopefully speak to people’s experiences with both oppressive and liberating forms of spiritual community, without being preachy.”
John has always been so generous in spirit! Feel free to mirror his tremendous generosity and give John the gift of freedom to write.
Hope you will give generously and share a note of love when you do.
Thanks for helping John make his writing dreams come true!
