Hi my name is Emma Leech and I am fundraising to complete a film I am producing with film maker Rod Morris from radio factory films. The film is a true story of my journey to navigate my grief when my boyfriend died from heroin in 1990.
I inherited his guitar which was hand made by legendary guitar maker Tony Zematis, who made guitars for Ronnie Wood, Jeff Beck and others. For over 30 years the guitar stayed locked in its case unplayed with my grief. It is time to let the soul of the guitar free by allowing it to be played once again.
The film follows the journey as it is placed into the hands of guitarists who bring it back to life with passion and tenderness. A symbol of hope as they tell their story of loss through the music.
My path to healing opened me to a spiritual dance practice called 5Rhythms that gave me a place to hold and transform my loss. A deep and powerful exploration of the dance of humanity. I now teach this body of work, trained by Gabrielle Roth the founder.
The story is poetically filmed, grief touches the human experience that connects us all.
We explore the guitar as a protagonist to open up the conversation of loss, and the dance is the metaphor and the medicine.
We are fundraising to complete the editing of the sound and the images.
We hope to submit the film to film festivals.
If this resonates with you, please help to bring this project into its final phase for the world to see and be part of its journey.
Grief and loss is a vital conversation and we hope this film inspires you .
