Donation protected
Gus Claveau is a member of the United Steelworkers Local 9422. He is employed as an under ground truck driver. He's been working at LDI since November of 2017. His been diagnosed with Acute Leukemia and what he need is a blood marrow stem cell transplant. In July of 2023 he went to the Sudbury Cancer Center for a bone marrow blood sample because his blood cancer cells were extremely high. In August 2023 he had a zoom call from a Oncologist from Ottawa University hospital. His prognosis was Acute Leukemia he was told he would need an Allogenic Stem Cell Blood Transfer from a blood donor that matches his blood type. After that he will need to move to Ottawa from North Bay for 6 months to 1 year to get chemotherapy first then followed by radiation. Then get the Stem Cell Donor Transfer in the meantime hopefully not get any infections etc. He has also started a chemo pill since September 28, 2023. He will find out December 22, 2023 if he will need to move to Ottawa or keep doing the Chemo pills for now. He appreciates any help we can give him. Please help us help our union brother.
