Hello everyone!
Georgina and I are so excited to be heading off to Malawi and Tanzania for the next two months to volunteer for Lessons in Conservation (LiC). It is a non-profit youth led organisation on a mission to educate young students in underprivileged communities across Africa about the nature surrounding them and the importance of conservation. We are so excited to have the opportunity to teach as well as learn in such beautiful countries with an incredible organisation.

What is LiC?
LiC is on a mission to give people, especially children, the opportunity to visit and learn about the beautiful and incredible landscapes and wildlife Africa has to offer, while learning to protect them. Their aim is to foster a love for nature and give students the opportunity to experience and ignite a passion for conservation.

David Attenborough said, "If children don't grow up knowing about nature, they won't understand it. And if they don't understand it, they won't protect it."

By exposing children to the natural beauty that surrounds them, the hope is that they will become young ambassadors for conservation who will maintain their heritage long into the future. This is done through practical and interactive lessons, LiC aims to educate children on wildlife, environments, and conservation issues we are facing. The children are taken on excursions to some of the most beautiful national parks in South Africa, Malawi, and Tanzania.

The end goal is that all the children who participate in the program will continue to share their new-found knowledge on conservation, hopefully having a ripple effect on their communities’ beliefs and behaviours, creating a sustainable cycle of conservation between nature and people. Those students with extra passion, drive and desire to work in conservation will be sponsored to attend various programmes and have the opportunity to work within the conservation sector.

I have always believed in the power of education and the ripple effect of opportunity. That combined with passion and drive can help make real change. Georgina and I both believe that protecting the world around us begins with falling in love with it. We are so grateful to be joining this mission!

How you can help?
LiC is doing important work and despite a huge amount of passion and dedication, there is also a need for funding. So we are raising money to help support LiC in their mission, every donation – big or small – will go directly to LiC to fund conservation lessons, excursions and bursary funding for students pursuing careers in conservation.

If you would like to be part of this mission and create life-changing experiences for children then please consider donating. If you are unable to donate, then please share this fundraiser to whoever you can!
