less than zero MORE THAN WHOLE

In 1992 i moved into 305 Hyde Street Unit 604 from Paris to write about\photograph the Tenderloin. I created tenderloinBEAUTIFUL - Two days ago, on Sept 15, 2024 - 32 years of my writing, photography and paintings along with everything I owned went up in flame. I'm using my father's page because i have no phone and like most of us my age i don't know my passwords ,much less have a phone. I had gone to my neighbor's to watch the latest Randy Rainbow video. When i returned to my apartment the perimeter of my door to my apartment was exhaling black smoke. I couldn't even wait to put my key into its slot, i rammed the door with all i had 3 or four times until it cracked open NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i lost my 10 year old cat Midnight the day before and Virgil and Ruddy were in the apartment. this couldn't be happening. I was in the mouth of a dragon complete black smoke and red hot orange flame chaos of falling tile and snapping sounds - the dragon's breath was not going to lose this lone, it has been decided and all was lost.

it is difficult to sit here and think about the 7 hours i lost in the same way we fall in dreams

ruddy and virgil made it - i survived trying to find them in the bowels of hell. the enormity of what happened is almost eased because i lost everything. everything. i have

less than ZERO

but i am more than WHOLE because without the burden of sifting through and searching for remains = all that remains is nothing.

But i am more than WHOLE because i witnessed each of my parent's death and know that for me this time all is not lost. i can build it all back up. i need help consisting of love and words and kindness and i offer to you that we all can pick up the pieces of what we have and that is what we are capable of doing and to do it. my sister rosemary i love you, you took this on with me and it is harrowing and i screamed at you and you never left me.

and i appreciate Life.
