On New Year's Eve, my sister, Leslie Sides, suffered a ruptured aneurysm. Thankfully, her 14 year old son, Max, was with her and called 911. Leslie was life-flighted to IU Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis and remains in the Neuro Critical Care Unit. She was intubated for 11 days and currently has a drain to remove leaked blood and cerebrospinal fluid from her brain. Although we are unclear as to the extent of brain damage that has occurred, we are certain that Leslie will continue to defy the odds.
Leslie's road to recovery will be long and arduous. Due to extensive inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation, she will not be able to earn an income. For those of you who don't know Leslie well, she is a funeral director, the chief deputy coroner for Warrick County and deputy coroner for Vanderburgh County, a diener (autopsy assistant), a CASA volunteer, and on top of all that is completing coursework to earn a degree in social work.
I have created this account in effort to offset accumulating medical expenses and to supplement Leslie's income. On behalf of my beautiful sister Leslie, her husband Mike, and her children Max and Lauren, I thank you for your donations, thoughts, and prayers.
