Leslie was taken to the ER on Thursday 5/21 with severe chest pains. Doctors ran several tests and scans and found the cause to be a mass in her chest. A biopsy determined the mass to be a Thymoma, which is a tumor of the Thymus. On Friday 5/29, doctors will do an operation to remove the Thymus, the tumor, and any other areas the mass has spread to or affected. We are hoping the removal of the Thymus will be all that’s needed to treat her condition, but we won’t know for certain until after the surgery what the future holds as far as continued care and prognosis. Leslie’s operation will be extensive and some what complicated with many important vessels, nerves, and organs surrounding the Thymus. Recovery will require 2-3 days in ICU with a chest tube, and following that she will be in the hospital another 3-5 days. She will most likely be off work for 2-3 more weeks following. With over 14 days in the hospital, a few of those days being cared for in ICU, and being gone from work for over a month, her expenses will be overwhelming, as well as her regular income reduced during this time. We are reaching out to friends, loved ones, and others who want to be involved in helping reduce Leslie’s worries and struggles at this time. Leslie is a single mother to a beautiful daughter, Kierra, who relies heavily on her mom. We pray her surgery is without complication and successful! If you aren’t in a position to help, please say a prayer for her. We know prayer changes things and we continue to lift her in prayer through her operation and recovery!
