In July 2017 Leslie thought something felt wrong in her body, and after numerous tests, doctors discovered a tumor in her breast. The treatment is aggressive: a double-mastectomy in September followed by radiation and chemotherapy.

As a single mom to her 8-year-old son, it is imperative that Leslie be able to look and feel as normal as possible. As her sister (no-longer-in-law) I can attest to her dedication to reducing any negative impact her surgery and recovery may have on her son.

What's a Penguin Cold Cap? Cold Cap Therapy is a non-invasive technique for minimizing hair loss and swelling after chemotherapy. With a Penguin Cold Cap Leslie has a chance of keeping her beautiful hair and reducing the trauma on her son and by looking more like her healthy self while undergoing treatment. 

Leslie will undergo surgery in the third week in September and start chemotherapy directly after. The Penguin Cold Cap costs $450 per month and it's expected she will need it for three months. There is also a $500 deposit, so we are asking for $2000.00 to cover the costs of the Cold Cap.
