Leslie's F*ck Cancer Fundraiser
Donation protected
In March 2019 I was diagnosed with breast cancer. The wild ride has only just begun! I had surgery in April (lumpectomy) and will start 9 months of chemo in June, to be followed by radiation therapy. During the next year, I will have a very limited capacity for work and therefore, limited income. In addition to mounting medical bills, I will need help with basic living expenses like rent and food. The goal here is a high number but I think it’s still modest compared with actual costs – rent during that period of time will be over $20,000, internet and cell phone around $2100, food an estimated $7000, etc. My medical bills already total about $7400 and I have 10+ months of treatments ahead, several more costly tests and minor surgery. I applied and was rejected for Federal and State Disability benefits because I was self-employed. Being that I don’t have living parents, a spouse or kids, I do not have a financial safety net for a situation such as this. I humbly ask that if you are able to, please make a donation toward my goal. You can send me a check or pay thru this website. Declare it as a gift for tax purposes. While I may not be able to repay the funds, I will repay with abundant gratitude, and eventually, I’ll make some delicious food for you and your friends/family! This GoFundMe will be active for the duration of my treatment and as more and more bills roll in I’ll have a more precise idea of my needs.
As much as I feel some discomfort in publicly asking for assistance, I also know it’s crucial to try and garner some financial help early in this process. That way I can ease my anxiety about the financial part and focus on healing and getting well.
I’m going to beat this cancer thing, I have no doubt! But I need the help of friends and family. We can get through this together and it will be sublime.
