Leslie Woolery Hudson’s Medical Costs

Hello everyone,

In February, my sister Leslie was rushed to Mercy Hospital in Redding unable to breathe. She was found to have multiple life threatening PE’s throughout her lungs. It was discovered that this was due to, in large part, a genetic clotting issue that plagues our family. She has already been through one attempt locally to fix the vessels affected by the clots, but it was unsuccessful to say the least. According to the doctors she has seen, her best chance to fully recover is with a surgery and treatment by a specialized pulmonary & cardiovascular team at UC San Diego. The testing, procedure, hospitalization and rehabilitation process will take the entire month of July in San Diego then several months once back home. Due to the condition, she has been on continuous oxygen since her initial diagnosis and has not been able to work. The mounting costs of her medical care and now travel and lengthy stay at UCSD are financially exhausting.
