The morning of January 23rd, 2023 my mom (Leslie Glapa) had a sense to wake up earlier than normal. As she head to the living room she noticed smoke that filled the room and the house caught fire. She says it was a miracle she happened to wake up early. Fortunately my mom and her cat left the house before the smoke became too serious, but my mom injured her foot as she was scrambling to get out of the house and now is wearing a boot with crutches.
My mom ran outside to the neighbors house and called the fire department but by the time they reached the house the living room was charred and smoke spread throughout the entire house. All of her belongings were ruined. This is the childhood home I grew up in so it’s hard to grasp both the emotional and physical damage. She’s now living in a rental house covered by insurance as the house is inspected to see if it’s salvageable or not.
My mom isn’t one to ask for help when she needs it, so I have set up this GoFundMe with the goal to help her out in the interim with the things she needs NOW to live her life such as some new clothes, toiletries, basic kitchen supplies and the medical bills she’s already received for injuring her foot during the fire. It’s really tough to see anyone go through a tragic life event like this, especially your own mom.
Setting this up in an effort to try and get her back on her feet and get her to a space where she was before this disaster. Anything helps! Thanks so much.
