Leslie Pena is dancing in heaven

Leslie’s passing was sudden and tragic. At only 55 years old, she left us in the hours where Christmas Eve transitioned into Christmas morning with her daughters and husband at her side.

With no idea it was coming and no plan in place, the family has had to jump into action to sort her business, bills, sister’s caretaking needs, medical debt, and funeral expenses while taking time away from work and grieving.

She was a firecracker and deeply believed she was just at the precipice of her second chapter of life. After raising four kids from the age of 20, she was over the moon with dreams that she’d soon become the "traveling grandmother" and finally see the world. This year was a big one for her. In any corner of the house, you’ll see evidence of her love for wellness and nature with her home apothecary and garden, her artistic explorations in the form of paintings and crochet, and merchandise meant for her newly opened vintage shop of curated and reimagined pieces. And how can we not mention her obsession with pigs? All types and sizes fill the home and her Facebook feed.

There is no mom like her, period. She would camp outside in the backyard or insist her daughters go out dancing with her. With no filter and never taking herself too seriously, she had a sense of humor that would leave you in a laughing fit and an openness that instantly made anyone feel like a close friend. She had an outsized impact on every single person she met, be it a neighbor she bumped into at the market once or a client she may have connected with only yesterday.

She always put others first, caring for both of her parents when their health declined and moving Cheryl, her differently abled sister, in with her to ensure she has a fulfilling and secure life. And she kept her husband Robert young, encouraging him to live life and leaving no dull moment. They were true best friends who got each other on a level no one else could with a relationship no one will ever replicate.

Leslie filled all of these roles while also being the family’s rock and single-handedly managing all household logistics. Now her children and husband are scrambling to figure out how to pick up the pieces with the unimaginable hole she left.

This Gofundme is meant to help keep the family afloat through this difficult time with half the income and allow us all to properly say goodbye with the joyous Celebration of Life that Leslie would want. We will keep every single person who contributes aware of plans so you can all join us to come be with her one last time.

We know many of you are also experiencing a monumental grief right now that is beyond words and are grateful that we can all band together in this excruciating time.

Thank you!!
