Hello,

Thank you for visiting this page and taking a moment to read.

Dr. Jessica Yanosik and I are fundraising to support our colleague, Leslie Campbell, her husband, Krzysztof, and their newborn son, who was born at 28 weeks and is currently receiving care in the NICU. All proceeds will be gifted directly to the family. Sharing this page is also a meaningful way to help.

From Leslie Campbell:

“On January 16th, what was expected to be a routine 28-week scan quickly became an emergency when pre-eclampsia was diagnosed, and I was admitted to the hospital. My husband, Krzysztof, and I learned that we would likely remain hospitalized until delivery - a very quick shift from how we had imagined the rest of our pregnancy journey would be. Plans changed overnight as treatment began immediately to protect both my baby and me, with the hope of delaying delivery to 34 weeks.

Two days later, I was diagnosed with life-threatening HELLP syndrome. In just a few hours, my liver function took a huge hit, and my platelets dropped from the 150s to the 30s. Our son was delivered by emergency C-section at 28 weeks and 2 days. He arrived weighing 3 lbs 4 oz - tiny, mighty, and absolutely perfect. After delivering our son, a severe placenta accreta was found, leading to significant blood loss and other complications. I earned an ICU stay but got to meet baby the following day.

Our miracle baby boy will remain in the NICU through April but is already exceeding expectations. While we are incredibly grateful to be on the other side of the emergency, this is only the beginning of a long and challenging road ahead. As we focus on recovery and being present for our son, we are facing an extended hospital stay, time away from work, and unforeseen medical expenses. Thank you for being part of our village as we take this journey one day at a time.

Now comes our next big challenge: picking a name strong enough to match him — preferably before “bubs” or “nugget” ends up on his birth certificate ”
