Hey Everyone, I'm looking to get a Microbiome Test to help me get my Ulcerative Colitis in remission.
As some of you may know, I've been looking after my health in order to get my Ulcerative Colitis in remission. I've ditched the booze, worked with a specialist, and focused on changing my diet and lifestyle.
The great news is that it's working!
My inflammation/calprotectin levels are down to 540. They were at +2,000 over a year ago, and 800 six months ago. A healthy level would be under 50.
The bad news is that I've hit a brick wall.
To move forward and have it dealt with once and for all, there is a need to gather data of what's happening inside of my guts. To do this I will need a Microbiome Test & Consultation which is pretty costly at £750.
A Microbiome Test & Consultation will identify the types of bacteria in my gut, look for parasites and other unfriendlies. This will also give me an actionable road map to help me heal my guts and bring down my inflammation.
Unfortunately, this test isn't available on the NHS or via health insurance.
Ulcerative Colitis is an inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) that causes inflammation and ulcers (sores) in your digestive tract.
Sadly, I've not been in remission for 10-years. If left untreated I risk developing serious issues like ruptured bowel and bowel cancer. My prescribed medicine hasn't worked and the last option my GP has given me is 1 year of immunosuppressant drugs. The downside is that this would make me vulnerable during the current pandemic, as well as have long term side effects.
So, as you can see it’s a no-brainer really. I’ve got to get more information to help me heal my condition.
I appreciate that times are tough and that there are so many people who are in need. I will donate 10% of the total amount raised to
