Lesa's Cancer Journey
Donation protected
A couple days after announcing early retirement from nursing, my mom Lesa was diagnosed with late-stage metastatic triple negative breast cancer. For those of you who don’t know, that’s pretty much the worst type of breast cancer you can have. Something I also didn’t know is that when it starts in your breast, no matter where else it goes, it is still called breast cancer.
Because she retired early, she doesn’t qualify for Medicare for another couple of years and as such, still has a very high deductible; 8k to be exact. Compared to the whopping 26k per chemo treatment, this doesn’t seem like a whole lot, but for two retired people who are still recovering from repairing their home from a flood a few years ago… it’s a lot.
My siblings and I are helping how we can, but we’re humbly asking those who can help, even by just sharing this or sending happy thoughts or prayers to do so. My goal for this page is to raise enough to get them through at least the first year of deductibles and medications, and then we can find them a better insurance next year. Thank you for reading and giving a little bit of your time to this cause.
