LeRoy is a 53 year old  loving husband, father, son, brother, and grandfather. His medical journey started in 2007 when he was diagnosed with heart failure. In 2022 we traveled to Mayo Phoenix after LeRoy started to have shortness of breath he was diagnosed with end stage heart failure. He was given about a year to live. He needed a LVAD or new heart.

We wanted a second opinion so we chose UC San Diego Medical Center in La Jolla on April 9, 2023. He was hospitalized for a week for his second heart transplant evaluation. On May 9,2023 LeRoy received a new heart. LeRoy and our family feel relief that he was given this gift to live a life free of the fear he has lived with since his end stage heart failure diagnosis.

During his heart transplant we will have to stay for 3 months at the La Jolla house near the hospital for labs, biopsy  on his heart weekly and close supervision by his transplant team.

I will not receive any income during our 3 month stay.  Without an income the challenges of recovery will be insurmountable for our family. Please share our story. No gift or amount is too small.
