Leo's Memorial Bench on Hastings East Hill
Donation protected
In memory of Leo, our lovely Dad, we would like to place a memorial for him - a park bench and plaque on the East Hill in Hastings Country Park.
Leo died suddenly and unexpectedly on 26 November 2024. Leo will be remembered as a truly gentle, funny and kind man who we were lucky enough to call our dad, albeit for far less time than we ever imagined.
He was passionate about many things, and along with his lifelong love to be out in nature, two of these passions were walking and Hastings, as a town and as his home. Anyone who visited him and Barley in Hastings would have been invited to East Hill, where he would walk his dog, Jetson (who he called his 'prodigal son').
Those who didn't have the chance to walk on East Hill with him can now visit the bench to say goodbye and remember him. As his daughters, we can continue to walk there with him and be reminded of him as a steady and supportive presence, and someone who always looked after us, and he will continue to do so as the bench serves as a place to sit and rest.
Standing on East Hill and looking out onto the sea in Hastings is where we imagine Leo would like to be immortalised.
The bench and plaque will cost £2000 and anything contributed will be deeply appreciated. We hope to go out to Hastings as a family and set it up for him soon. Any extra money raised will go towards our other memorial costs.
Thank you so much for taking time to read this and thinking of Leo, from his daughters, Chilali and Maizie.
