Leo’s fight for life - Donate to save Leo

My name is Amna, and my heart is shattered beyond words.

Last night, my beloved Leo, went missing, and after hours of desperate searching, I received the worst news imaginable-someone told me he had been hit by a car near Manor Lakes. When I rushed to the scene and saw him lying there, injured and barely holding on, I felt like my heart had exploded in my chest. I was crying so loudly, I couldn't even stop myself. I've always considered myself a stable person, someone who doesn't outwardly show emotions easily, but at that moment, I felt like I was going to die.

Leo isn't just a pet. He's my baby, my family, my world. I have had cats since childhood, but I have never met a soul as gentle, sweet, and loving as Leo. He is truly one of a kind. Now, he is fighting for his life, and I am doing everything in my power to save him.

When I took him to the vet, his condition was critical. His vitals were dangerously low, and he was in excruciating pain. They had to put him on extra oxygen and critical care immediately. X-rays revealed a dislocated hip joint, but the worst part is the severe abdominal injury —a large chunk of his tissue was ripped out due to the impact. The vets are doing their best to clean his wounds, prevent infection, and stabilise him, but it is an uphill battle.

Leo now requires multiple surgeries, including:

• Emergency wound cleaning and abdominal reconstruction

• Hip joint surgery to fix the dislocation or a more extensive orthopedic procedure

• Intensive Care Unit (ICU) hospitalisation for up to two weeks

Right now, they are running a trauma screening that alone costs $5,000-$6,000, and the total estimated cost of his treatment is $35,000.

While I recently got pet insurance (just two days ago), it will only cover 80% of the cost, up to a maximum of $20,000, which means I still have to pay thousands of dollars out of pocket.

I have already reached out to Pet Medical Crisis and other charities for assistance, but they can only help so much. The financial burden is overwhelming, and I am turning to my community for support.
