In 1998, God called Leon Jones to serve Him in Iquitos, Peru. Leon shut down his successful Atlanta business, took his life savings and traveled to Iquitos, though he had no idea what God wanted him to do in that remote jungle town.

Shortly after arriving in Iquitos, Leon started a free daycare center for indigenous children in the town’s poorest community. Soon he followed up with a teenage girls’ volleyball team to combat teen pregnancy, a free milk program for 200 children, and a house for abandoned children.

Twenty seven years later, Leon is still serving God in Iquitos. In the Fall of 2024, he returned stateside to seek medical care in Macon, Georgia. Although his friends urged him to consider staying in the states, he insisted on returning to Iquitos because, he said, “That is where my work is.” So, just days before his 91st birthday, Leon returned to his beloved land of Peru. We got word the day after his return, on May 22nd, that Leon had suffered a stroke. He has been in the hospital in Iquitos since then. He is recovering, is able to talk now somewhat and is able to move his left arm about 30%. He has a long road of recovery ahead of him.

Leon’s life savings is long gone although I’d say he traded it for much more valuable treasures in Heaven. Now it’s time for us to step in and help Leon in his time of need. Will you consider making a donation to help Leon with his medical expenses? Any amount will be greatly appreciated.
