Hi everyone, my name is Leon.
For almost 20 years, I’ve been delivering surf boards up and down California. I’ve made the drive from San Diego to San Francisco more than 800 times. If you’ve ever received a delivery from me, you probably remember not just the gear—but the stoke I brought with it. I’ve always taken pride in showing up with good energy and doing the job right.
But now, I’m the one who needs a little help.
Because of the long hours I’ve spent sitting in my truck—six to eight hours a day on the road—I’ve developed a few health issues over time. A couple of years ago, I snapped my Achilles. Then, recently a blood clot was discovered in my leg. On top of that, I’ve developed what people call "trucker’s arm" and chronic lower back problems from bouncing along the highways for years.
Right now, I need to take time off the road to rebuild my health and get back to a place where I can live and work without pain.
It’s not easy for me to ask for help—but I’ve given a lot to this work and to the people I’ve served, and I’m hoping some of that goodwill can come back around.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this—and for any way you might be able to support. Even just sharing this means a lot.
A whole lot of gratitude,
Leon
