Leoni Laurel's Out-Of-Town Medical Emergency Fund

Last month my mom and dad went to visit my aunt and uncle in Willcox, Arizona.  Two days before Thanksgiving day, my mom started having severe abdominal pain.  By Friday, she started vomiting and the pain became so intense that she consented to be brought to the nearest urgent care in Willcox.  They were unable to provide adequate medical care there, so she was taken by ambulance to a hospital in Tucson two hours away and ended up undergoing two major surgeries, one procedure and several complications from a ruptured gallbladder and an abdominal vein.  At the time I was visiting my sister, Melissa, and her husband, Jeremy, in Michigan for Thanksgiving, so Melissa and I both flew to Arizona to be with her and my dad.  

She was hospitalized for three weeks and had a lot of pain and post op complications.  When she was finally discharged from the hospital, she was moved to a rehab center in Tucson to begin therapy and follow-up with her surgeon.  We were hoping to be able to go home before Christmas, however, because of the holidays it was difficult to get follow-up appointments.  After much prayer and five weeks of being in Tucson, she was finally discharged from rehab on December 29.  Our family headed home the following day and arrived on New Year's Eve.  We are so very thankful to God for His mercy and healing and the many friends and family that have reached out and prayed for us from afar.   Thank you so very much!  We appreciate each and every one of you!

My mom is currently at my home (Rodney's).  She is still very weak but recovering a little each day.  We thank God for sparing her life as it could have been fatal.  We appreciate your continued thoughts and prayers for her.   

During our time in Tucson, we were so far from home and absent all the while from our jobs.  We also had a lot of expenses while staying there (e.g. airfare, car rental, gas, hotel accommodations, food, supplies, etc.) in addition to medical bills that were not covered by insurance.  If you feel impressed to help us out in any way, we truly appreciate it.  Thank you and may the Lord bless you!
