Leona Fatchett Kaulin passed on Jan 21st, 2017, surrounded by family, after fighting medical complications for over 3 months.
We will sorely miss Leona. The captain, the matriarch, and the glue of our family, life will be drastically different without her light.
Grandma always felt blessed to have found and loved 2 good men within her life. However, having to outlive both was the only problem. After her death, we discovered she had an unusual plan. Leona Fatchett Kauflin has 2 headstones! After her cremation, she intended be close to both in death. Unfortunately, in 2004, while securing Tony's (and her 2nd) resting place, she failed to sign and finalize her final burial costs. The price quoted then was $800 for her to be laid to rest, plus cremation, ect. The 2017 price is now $2,500 + cremation and other unexpected expenses her immidiate family is unprepared for.
As you all know, Lea lived simply and loved her children and grandchildren unconditionally. She gave generously during her life, and welcomed all friends as family. Grandma and the Cornish House were a haven for many during troubled times. Several children grew up there, hunted Easter eggs, and rinsed sand out of their swimsuits on the deck.
This memorial fund is going directly to the Fatchett family to help pay for the unexpected funeral costs and other financial challenges the family may face during this time.
Thank you in advance for your generosity
so we may honor her last wishes. We are deeply grateful.
