Leonard Rowe Kidney Transplant
Donation protected
My sweet cousin Leonard Rowe received the call ~ finally ~ after all these years they've found a kidney match for him! Hallelujah! (Insert his baritone voice singing that...)
He is en route to the hospital as I am typing this.
Leonard was able to meet the challenges of these last years thanks to his unyielding faith and determination, and most importantly, an awesome network of family and friends. For that, he is immeasurably grateful.
Renal failure, dialysis, and transplant surgery was the easy part - now the real work begins. Recovery!
Organ transplant post operative care will bring many new and steep challenges. Of course Leonard is prepared to meet them all head on, with a song in his heart and smile on his face.
However, he will not be able to work for an as yet to be determined length of time. In addition to meeting his basic living expenses, he will have the added financial burden of the laundry list of post transplant care items - wellness care, travel, etc. There are a lot of unknowns; anti-rejection meds, for example, according to transplant literature, are estimated at upwards of $17,000 - $25,000 per year, and that does not include what he may need for the initial months as his system adjusts to the new organ. He will also need to be prepared for incidentals, as he navigates and settles into his new routine.
As he is fully prepared to meet the physiological trials that face him, if you would like to help Leonard meet his financial challenges, any and all support is greatly appreciated!
For additional information about his procedure and his road ahead, The National Kidney Foundation is a wonderful resource ~ https://www.kidney.org/.
Thank you and much love.
