Today, I speak to you with a heart weighed down by sadness, as we mourn the sudden and tragic loss of a cherished family member. Just a few days ago, our beloved Leonardo Tapias was taken from us in a devastating car accident in the Dominican Republic. The news has left us shattered, struggling to come to terms with the reality of this profound loss. We find peace in knowing that Leonardo has reunited in heaven with his beloved son.

Leonardo was a son, brother, friend, father, and beloved husband to his wife Margarita. His vibrant spirit, infectious laughter, and boundless love touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. He brought light and joy wherever he went, leaving an undeniable mark on the hearts of those around him who met him.

As we gather to honor the memory of Leonardo, I stand before you today, appealing to your kindness, generosity, and compassion. I ask you to open your hearts and extend your support in this time of need. Any contribution, whether large or small, will make a significant difference. Let’s ensure that Leonardo is brought back to the United States, where his wife can plan a proper funeral and find solace in knowing that he is home.
