Help Leon fight Stage 4 Liver Cancer

Spende geschützt
Hi and thank you for visiting our page. We are Travis and Lindy Campbell and this is one of the hardest things we have ever written. We humbly ask you to please help us support our son while he continues to fight for his life. We’d just come home from our first family trip with our two children to Disneyland in July 2022 when the unthinkable happened. The trip was a dream come true and the first real trip we’d taken as a family since COVID. But then it felt like the world stopped when our oldest child was diagnosed with Stage 4 Hepatoblastoma, an extremely aggressive cancer of the liver. We’d brought our children in for a routine wellness check up, when the doctor immediately felt that our oldest, Leon’s liver was enlarged. Not long after, Leon was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. At that time, Leon was three years old. He’d been experiencing some digestive issues leading up to that point but nothing that seemed too concerning. He’s always been a healthy child and the news of a Stage 4 cancer could not have been more devastating. One week after the diagnosis, Leon’s treatment began at Randall’s Children’s Hospital. He has been the bravest little boy throughout this whole experience, and his entire medical team have been wonderful. Still, our heart breaks for our child as he goes in and out of the hospital and can’t do the things a child should be able to like play with his younger sister and make make friends with other children. Leon completed about four months of chemotherapy when we received more devastating news; the treatments destroyed Leon’s high frequency hearing and he’ll need to use hearing aids for the rest of his life. Leon has been undergoing blocks of chemotherapy for 7 months now, getting infusions 3-5 times every week as long as his white blood cell counts are high enough, and has scans monthly. We live about an hour and a half away from the closest hospital with a pediatric oncology clinic. This means Travis misses a lot of work to be able to support Leon together with Lindy. Early this year, we finally received good news. The chemotherapy had destroyed the nodes in Leon’s lungs and had shrunk the tumor down in size. Leon was cleared for surgery in January just before Leon’s 4th birthday. While we’re still waiting for scans to confirm the results of the surgery and Leon’s current round of chemotherapy, we continue to remain hopeful and say our prayers. If all goes as hoped, it will take 3 years before Leon’s doctors will declare him cancer free. After that, he will have to go into the hospital for scans once a month until he is 18 years old. But this is all if the treatment continues to be successful. We both have always felt that our job as parents is to protect our children but there was something happening to Leon that we could not foresee. We want to continue helping Leon fight bravely for his life and to make a full recovery and live a long, fulfilling life. Medical bills continue to grow even with private health insurance through Travis’ job. We humbly ask you for your support to help with the cost of Leon’s medical treatments, hospital travel, tests, scans and hearing aids. Your support means everything to us because our children are our entire world. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your time and anything you are able to contribute.
