Leomar Gemmen's Medical Expenses & Family Help

Leomar Gemmen is our son, brother, nephew and friend. If you’re reading this and don’t know him, here is a little about him. He is studying at Lansing Community College. Recently he has been more interested in business and supply chain management. He loves his sweet kitty, Asia. He has a kind heart, dry sense of humor and a gentle soul.

On October 28 Leo complained that he couldn’t lift his arm. A few hours later he collapsed in his room. His roommate immediately took him to the ER at Sparrow Hospital. They found bleeding on his brain and intervened to relieve the pressure on his brain. In the last 36 hours his family has gotten news that Leo has cancer and it is in numerous places in his body including his lungs and brain. The next few days are critical for his medical team to decide what to do regarding the cancer while his brain and body are already healing. We have a lot of questions and heartache but we have received so much loving words and thoughtful actions. For that, we are grateful. Long hours in a hospital are rough.

We know people want to help and it’s hard to know exactly what kind of help is needed right now. We know Leo is going to have a long road of recovery ahead of him. We know there will be large medical expenses. Denny(dad), Yazmin(mom) and Kim(sister) do not live in the Lansing area and there are additional food and expenses that go with being present at the hospital.
