Leo XIV Center: A Vision for Catholic Art and Technology
Donation protected
The election of Pope Leo XIV is a momentous occasion for American Catholics. His namesake, Leo XIII, held the Chair of St. Peter during the upheavals of the Industrial Revolution. Pope Leo's pontificate begins at the dawn of another revolution, this time involving AI and the meaning and dignity of the human person.
He has already written on these topics. As a mathematician, he is no mere dilettante. What better way to honor him than to launch a new Catholic Arts and Technology Center in the place where he lived and celebrated Mass decades ago!
We propose to build The Leo XIV Center for Art and Technology. It will be a retreat center, an idea factory, a place where Catholic artists of all kinds gather to defend the Faith and engage with the culture in new ways. Where technologists can come to work through the ethical and moral issues around AI.
We envision hosting retreats and workshops, speakers' series, artists in residence, conferences and seminars--all designed to take the message of the gospel to the world through the arts.
The cost of the building and grounds is $1.8MM. We estimate that a further $500,000 will be needed to complete rehabilitation. All funds raised will be dedicated to this project.
We see a future where Catholic artists--writers, painters, poets, sculptors, digital artists, filmmakers musicians--come together to celebrate and create. Where the faithful (and yes, even the curious) come to experience Truth and Beauty.
We ask for your financial support AND your prayers.
