Leo the Hero's Fight to Heal his Kidney Disease

Donation protected

Leo McConnell is a 1-year-old battling a rare congenital condition called Posterior Urethral Valves (PUV), which affects only 1 in 8,000 births. This condition caused severe urinary blockage, leading to kidney damage and, at just 26 days old, renal failure. Leo spent almost a month at Children's Mercy Kansas City, undergoing surgery to remove obstructions, but the damage had already progressed to the later stages of Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD).

Now, Leo requires constant medical care, a specialized renal formula, a strict diet, and multiple daily medications to slow the progression of CKD. On April 9, 2025, he is scheduled for a crucial cystoscopy and urethral re-implantation surgery; the goal is to save his left kidney from being removed. Leo's family is making multiple trips to Kansas City and providing Leo with expensive formula. The budget is tight, even with Mom and Dad both working. They need all the support we can give in making sure little Leo gets to live the life he deserves!
