For over thirty years my father, Joseph Fennidy, has dedicated his life to serving his community. His roles in the community have included youth football Coach, Volunteer Firefighter, School Bus Driver, and Police Officer. My dad loves helping others and in my eyes, he is a true definition of a hero. Even after retirement, he continued to serve as a reserve officer for the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office. On Thursday December 23, while responding to a call in his unit, my daddy was involved in an accident that nearly cost him his life. The injuries he sustained has cause severe immobility, impacting his ability to live a normal life. He is no longer able to work and is relying on the help of friends and family to performing daily tasks such as eating, bathing, and moving around the house.
I am asking for assistance to help him as he is on the road to recovery. Reserve officers are not protected in the case of injury even while on duty, which leaves him responsible for all medical bills and regular bills that have already begin to pile up since the incident. Long term disability will only pay out about 250 a week and that will not be enough to support him during this time.
Doctors suspect that he suffered a stroke during the accident, causing him to lose feeling in the right side of his body. Appointments to visit specialist and neurologist are being made, all of which, will not be covered by the Sheriff's Office.
As a person who has always dedicated his life to others I am humbly asking for your support as he fights this battle.
